Francesca Olivetti Pop Art-ist

Francesca Olivetti was born in Milan April 26, 1978 and, since the early years of her childhood, felt the need to express her creativity in the arts. As a child, to those who asked, "What do you want to be when you grow up?" She replied, "The painter and restorer"... a desire that, even in part, she is then been able to achieve.
At the age of between 6 and 10, she attended several courses in arts and crafts. She also learned different tailoring techniques from her mother, passed down from generation to generation, such as knit with needles and crochet, the different techniques of embroidery and sewing.
In these years she won drawing and painting competitions organized for children and teens, and is already able to design and create, in complete independence, her first sculptures in fabric, wood, clay or plaster and her paintings that she worked on any kind of surface.
From the beginning she loves to use subjects related to the world of fairy tales, cartoons and comics... those still remain among her favorite for the realization of her works.
Her parents always encouraged her artistic passion, accompanying her to visit art cities, museums and exhibitions both in Italy and abroad.
Remains engraved in her memory meeting with the young Keith Haring whilst he was painting the famous murals in the Fiorucci store in Milan in 1985, where little Francesca, remains for hours to admire the artist at work.
At school she distinguish herself for being among the students with the highest potential in arts subjects.
She then attended the Art School "Umberto Boccioni" in Milan at the branch in Arese, the town where she grew up and where she still resides and carries out her work.
In 1998, after passing the entrance test, she began to attend decoration classes at the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera, and a few months later she passes another test in order to start a new class in Restoration of Contemporary Art ,only 25 students per year were awarded this honor, she studied under well known professors such as Vincenzo Ferrari, Roberto Semprini, Jürgen Rüdiger Becker, Vittoria Castoldi Formica, Manuela Turchetti, Andrea Del Guercio, Giuseppe Bonini, Gianna Bessi and Silvia Berselli.
During the years of the Academy, she took part in the restoration of works of art from the collection of Miuccia Prada and other major pieces by Fausto Melotti, Carla Accardi, Enrico Baj and many others.
In 1999 she was part, together with three other classmates, of the restoration and installation of the preparatory sketch entitled "I Processi" by Alik Cavaliere and of the exhibition and commemoration of the Artist “LE STORIE: I PROCESSI” held at the Stelline Foundation of Milan.
Her academic experience stopped abruptly due to sudden illness of her father.
For some years her artistic production is thin and is expressed only with the participation of a few carefully selected events.
In 2009, after a period of complete inactivity, finally regaining her creative flair, she returns to paint in the style of Pop Art, the faces of ordinary people and celebrities but also characters of the world of fairy tales, comics and cartoons.

In 2011 takes part at the international contest "Wannabee Prize" where the painting "Ercole" wins the special prize "Gazz'Art" by La Gazzetta dello Sport.
Canvas, acrylic paint and glitter are the main medium she uses to create her paintings.
